Education
Just to say, “No! Don’t have an abortion” is not enough. Education is a key part of helping families. It is important to take the time to sit with them, one-on-one, and go over the possible risks of abortion, provide prenatal information, ultrasounds for viability, maternity clothes and community referrals.
Most women who have an abortion do so without a full understanding of what they are doing. Most abortion clinics do not provide information for other options or offer post-abortion help nor do they ask if the woman is being pressured into the procedure. A poll taken of post-abortive women seeking counseling revealed that up to 83% of them did not want the abortion themselves but went ahead with the procedure because they were coerced.(1)
Pressure to make a life changing decision comes with an unplanned pregnancy. Whether the decision is to carry and parent their child, work out an adoption plan or to have an abortion, this decision is one that will change their lives forever. Their question is, “What is the right choice?”
